Jumping to items in book list without activating keyboard shortcuts

When the book list is in focus, typing in a key not associated with any actions will act similarly to Windows Explorer in that it'll jump to items beginning with that letter.

Is there any way to do this for letters that are associated with a hotkey, aside from adding modifier keys to them all?
