Question Color of background makes colors hard to see

I changed my laptop setting from Dark to Light. Whenever I use Calibre, it is in dark mode. After changing my laptop setting to Light, the Calibre background washes out a lot of the colored text now, making it difficult to see the text color.

I tried both system interface options, calibre style and system style, but Calibre stays in Light mode. This is after I changed my laptop setting back to Dark.

I made some rules for certain book categories to be a particular color.

How do I either get back the Dark Mode for Calibre, or better yet, choose my own shade for the background?
