I always told the helpdesk techs to page me, not call me. No telling WHAT I would say on the phone in the first few seconds after being woken up if I was called directly. For the urgent problems that I had set to notify me directly, I had my "double_page" script. It would ping me twice ... three minutes apart. Still, it always pinged the techs as well as me. I never trusted myself to not fall straight back asleep. Especially as I got older, and found that urgent problems just seemed less urgent (compared to sleep) than they used to.
