Apart from that, I don't care what the operating system is called, the only important thing is that other applications can be installed and used - applications that can be configured according to my needs.

I don't ask much for e.g. 10.3 inches in terms of flexible layout: sans serif font, line spacing 125%, only wrong landscape format in two columns, left-justified, no first line indentation but paragraph spacing, library management for more than 10,000 ebooks, direct loan option from various libraries including Amazon, ....

Or same requirements for 7.8 inches.

Which reader from which brand can do this?

I ask for just one suggestion!
My word, that is one ugly eBook layout.

I have had my Kobo Aura H2O 6 years one month and there are no signs of wear. I keep my H2O in a case and I treat it well. The plastic on a Kobo Reader is not going to show signs of wear unless you cause it to happen.

As far as the OPs request for just reading, why does the OP need an app associated with every eBook store? Every shop that sells ePub with ADE compatible DRMand no DRM you can buy and read on a Kobo or a Kindle. You can buy eBooks from Amazon and read them on a Kobo. It's not hard and we can help as much as we can and if the OP needs more help to get sorted, we can point him where to go. Once setup, it just works.

So once you get used to the Reading app you like, you don't need to keep switching because you bought an eBook at a different store.
