I'm on Assassin's Fate now, the last book of Elderling Realms, and both the story and narration have improved considerably. It's the same reader, but he's reined in his character voicing - maybe he read the reviews on the previous two books. The middle book of this trilogy suffered from dull settings, circular conversations, and extreme thick-wittedness on the part of the main character, though there was at least one very compelling scene. This last book so far is much more interesting as a travelogue and the heroes are being a bit more competent (with some notable exceptions), and I've heard it has a good ending.
