I have the iPad Pro and for North American letter size PDF's it is pretty much a perfect fit. One of my coworkers has a tablet similar to the Samsung and she ends with letter size PDFs being noticeably letterboxed (unused screen real estate on the top and bottom).

Letter size paper is 8.5x11 inches while the Apple screen is 7.76x10.35 inches and the Samsung screen is 6.59x10.53 inches. The Apple displays a letter size PDF at 7.76"x10.04" so about .15" top and bottom are not used while the Samsung displays the same PDF at 6.59"x8.53" wasting 1 inch top and bottom. For an A4 size PDF, the Apple displays it as 7.26"x10.35" so a .25" left/right margin while the Samsung displays it as 6.59"x9.35" wasting about .5" top and bottom. Note that these numbers are approximate and I may have made data entry errors.

OTOH, the Samsung is lighter than the iPad Pro which may or may not be a consideration.
