The 2020 MacBook Pro M1 has 2 Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports.
Which can be used for :
Recharge
DisplayPort
Thunderbolt 3
USB 3.1 (second generation)
The problem relies here.
So, my guess, the OP should get a USB-C hub with USB 2 capability on it, among others.
