It’s a USB C problem.
If you have a MacBook Air (2017) then you have an Intel chip and there is no issue with connecting a Kobo. My query specifically relates to a MacBook Pro with an Apple M1 chip. This MacBook Pro was only released by Apple several weeks ago.
