I thought it was clear that the license fee would be for the dual boot case, not for wine. I am sorry if it wasn't.

Fora full Windows install, yes but then most Linux tend to have a Windows license or two kicking around from where they sidegraded to Linux.

Will ADE run on win 9x?

Personally, I have a great fondness for virtualization since it allows me to run multiple Windows. Linux and even MacOS installations on my laptop. Not to mention, the ease of creating and tweaking an OS template for our corporate virtualization environment.

I was a big fan of vmware when it first came out and bought a personal license, which I renewed a couple of times. But it kept getting worse for me and its online documentation went from among the best I've ever seen to opaque.
I've tried virtualbox from time to time, but each time the particular hardware support I was looking for didn't work.

And some Linux users going months or even years between reboots? From what I've seen that is not that common and is taking unnecessary risks. Our Linux servers get rebooted several times per year when we install security upgrades both for the OS and for applications.

"some" does not mean "typical". I just wanted show that uptime can be quite lengthy in practice.
Such computers usually only have 1 or very few open ports and only allow access from
a small IP white list.
