It is debug mode, not DeDRM, that I meant to be asking about.

The DRM plugin I've been running was loaded from a file downloaded recently, DeDRM_plugin_7.0.0b4.zip. It has mostly worked but I was trying to investigate its failure with a specific book -- AZW3, purchased from Amazon for my Kindle Paperwhite. Apprentice Alf recommends removing the book, running Calibre in debug mode, and then adding the book again to generate a verbose record.

My problem is not with the general operation of Calibre, which runs fine in regular mode so far. I've renamed the library, started over, run a library maintenance check and found nothing.

So, to be clearer than I was before: Is anyone experiencing difficulties running Calibre 5.7.2 in debug mode?
Ok I just upgraded to calibre 5.7.2 and ran debug from a cold start no problems.

Spoiler:
Code:
$ calibre-debug -g

Recommendations:
Down grade calibre to 5.6.0--using the Reverting to a previous version instructions at https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux
run calibre in debug see if that fixes the problem.

From past experience possible hd drive going bad, a corrupted font, or a malformed epub.
