You do not need to make all of your text bold. You can use the setting in the Aa menu to increase the weight of the font being used. You can set it to what works for you. That means that bold text wiill remain bold as it will be darker then regular text.
Also I agree with @theducks that you should convert to KF8 (AZW3) as it will gie you a better reading experience with more features such as increasing the font weight.
