My experience with the LifeDrive wasn't that bad. Some things crashed it, but they were easily fixed with a software update (it was usually a poorly written older Palm app that was the cause).

My issue was the slowness. Instead of using the hard drive as just a storage mechanism, they used it as main memory. So whenever you changed applications, it swapped out the old one to the drive and swapped in the new one. Slooooowwww.

Someone created a cache program that would keep frequently used programs in memory to speed things up, but my usage was such that the cache didn't help much, and frequently caused problems because there wasn't enough RAM for other things.
