So final conclusion : last attempt with a new SD card did not solve anything. What's really weird is that the ereader will start up only after a long rest (several hours) and freeze again after few seconds. Might be hardware issue on the board I'm afraid.
Really bad that I will have to throw it away, when I see all people complaining about freezes I might not be the only one... After complaining to Kobo they offered me a 20€ discount.
