Don't reject the latest Sigil merely over the icons. They grated on me too, and I'm happy with the ability to revert (thank you). But they were never a showstopper. 'They hurt my eyes'. Oh, come on!

The menu bar is pretty customisable. You can un-clutter it (or clutter it even further!) very easily. For instance, I missed the one-click access to header styles until I realised I could have it (and better) back by choosing to display the Clip Bar.
