Anyways for transfering big chunks of data ADB will do it faster, specially if there're a lot of tiny files. Indeed in linux ADB is the only way to bulk transfer data given how broken MTP is.
Yeah probably MTP problem then. Yes browsing while copying don't work in windows 10 either for me on Alita. And there is some issue with renaming files I think at least when I tried.

EDIT: Thanks pazos for mentioning the MTP problem. I switched to PTP and it looks that it works better than MTP. It's copying manga CBZ files fine although sometimes it gets stuck for a while but never fails.
