If you have an iDevice, Apple is offering a number of free items through the weekend, it appears. The ebooks appear to be mostly self-published, and I didn't look through those, but there's also a section for audiobooks.
A lot of those are also Librivox etc., but there are a few classics narrated by recognized names, and a handful of other more popular works. And if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the list, there's a horror/dark fantasy anthology in story segments, with plenty of SFF writers I've read among the names.
