Actually, I am now pretty confident that we will see the V3 update offered to the first generation of Android 6 devices since people are reporting that the new version of the note app and the reader app work reasonably well on such devices and since some people seem to be beta testing the new firmware.

As for the long-promised upgrade to a newer version of Android, I don't expect that will ever happen no matter how patient one is.
Agreed.. we'll likely never see a different version of Android on any of the devices, Onyx want you to buy new hardware. However, I am very pleased that on my Note Plus I effectively have version 3.0 functionality in the Note and Reader apps right now. Onyx deserve some kudos for developing their front end and making it available to older models. It can't be too long before we do actually see 3.0 on all devices.
