I buy books. I don't worry much about privacy in that regard. But I also read a lot of old public domain books. I wouldn't have much problem limiting myself strictly to PD books if I felt there was a reason to do so. People have been writing good books since long before I was born and I recently turned 80.

Equating not buying books with pirating books doesn't really make a lot of sense.
