Mintbook

I just read about and viewed some videos on a device called the Mintbook.

I predict that this will be the device that, by capturing the attention of youth and social-addicts for it's chat features, makes reading on a device popular with the masses.
  • ~$150
  • long battery life
  • Win CE 5
  • WiFi
  • Intuitive
  • Excels (IMHO) at communication the way many of us - and kids - prefer it...
  • Plays music/video using common formats
  • is made by some of the early crew of iRiver - back when iRiver devices were breaking ground and made them a known name around the world

The screen's a bit small - but I don't think this is an issue for most young people - they'll actually cary this device in their pocket everywhere - and it's back-lit and colour which I think are important to most mainstream folks wanting a multipurpose device (though I'm someone who loves my ebookwise, and reads in the dark all the time).

Unlike the itouch/iphone - it wins on price and battery life.

Here are some of the links I followed for those interested:

(check out the video of the chat features found at the bottom of the page - this is why I think, especially, this will be big with youth - along with the cheap price)

Thoughts? Am I crazy?
