My guess is that you initiated a conversion for a book that has no convertible formats, e.g:

See ==>> What formats does calibre support conversion to/from?

And, perhaps you inadvertently pressed 'C' which is the keyboard shortcut for Convert, see ==>> Keyboard shortcuts
