I highly recommend the Earthsinger Chronicles by L Penelope.

1.5) Breath of Dust & Dawn
2) Whispers of Shadow & Flame
2.5) Hush of Storm & Sorrow

3.3) Coda of Storm & Sorrow (a Bonus Epilogue for Cry of Metal & Bone)
3.5) Echoes of Ash & Tears in Under a Winter Sky anthology

the final book (4) Requiem of Silence will be out in August 2021

The Abigail Owen book was originally part of her Legendary Consultants series. The version I read isn't available to buy any longer (it's been sitting in my TBR for a few years ). But she edited and expanded most of the books/novellas in that series and rereleased them as the Brimstone Inc series. They are now set in her Dragon Fire world, the same as her overlapping Fire’s Edge and Inferno Rising series.

I had only previously read one of the novellas as it was free in her newsletter. So even though Bait n' Witch was part of a series, it read fine as a stand-alone to me. The series is mostly novellas. There is one short story and then Bait n' Witch is the only full-length book, but relatively short like a category-length.

I hadn't planned to read the new versions since I already had this one book and two novellas in Calibre labeled as "Brimstone Inc" and was resigned to just not having all of the series. Then she sent a revised short story, A Ghost of a Chance, free with her newsletter. I had read the original version when I first subscribed to her newsletter. And the new versions are all only 99˘, so I broke down and bought them all last month. I have the new and new-to-me versions planned for my 2021 reading.

Sorry, this explanation got longer than I'd planned.
