Otherwise, I assume you're talking about our actual status bar (i.e., the bottom one) so we're going to need more details, as "The bar will go away with a page turn and a couple of other actions but otherwise persists." doesn't make any sense without more context.
What actions? What do you mean by "go away?".
If you could share you
settings.reader.lua config file (it's in the .adds/koreader folder), that might also help us diagnose/reproduce this
