The bluetooth adapter doesn't have a perfect fit, if I remember correct they had to cut the inner backplate (not the aluminum) to fit it snugly.
I have the same sort of a plan as you do but my idea would be to replace the 3G adapter with something that has wifi+3g or wifi+bt. I have heard of the "low power mode" on bluetooth but I have no idea whether it's just another marketing trick or it really does have a much better battery performance compared to wifi.
