Don't be afraid to try melatonin at bedtime. You get it in the vitamin aisle. It breaks down in your system to serotonin, which makes you all nice and rested. You don't have that floaty hangover feeling the next day.
Actually, it breaks down to serotonin after it hits every melatonin receptor in the body. It regulates sleep that way. It can also induce mania, which oddly enough, is the opposite of sleep. A family history of bipolar disorder should lead one to be cautious with taking OTC melatonin, especially since you don't know the exact dose you're getting.
