That method will be okay. It's having your live library on the NAS/cloud/etc. that will eventually have issues.

I don't use CC personally but from what I've read, it seems to be assumed that you are using CC to connect as a wireless device to calibre. From what @happylife wrote,
his process has a lot of manual effort required.
