That said, checking the video does lead me to some more (extremely not fun for you ^^) ideas:

* You appear to be using OpenDyslexic, try with a stock Serif font (that's Georgia on Kobo, IIRC?). It *may* be disagreeing with the font renderer a bit.

* You also appear to be using an old MiniClock version that does a crapload of refreshes, try without it, or with a current version from my tweaked branch. The unexpected extra refresh requests may coerce the kernel into waiting a bit to sort things out, delaying the actual useful refresh in the process.
