It has already been said several times. You only need the Kindles for registering, unless you really want to read on them. If you bought them to get your Amazon books to Calibre (that was the impression I got), you need to register them and that's it. They can sit on the shelf or in the storage forever after that, no internet or battery needed.
Or do you use them for reading?
