If you want to get the WiFi working again, try logging into the router and configuring it's 2.4 GHz network to use channel 1, 6 or 11. My Kindle has trouble intermittently when I have the router's channel set to Auto, but it's fine as long as I set it to a specific channel. You might have to try different channels to get the best signal, or download one of the phone apps that can tell you what channels your neighbors are using and pick the least busy one.
