It seems to me that the main fault of the constrast on the Onyx is the greyness of the whites. I've noticed this on the screen in general. This strikes me as odd, as white on e-ink is when the pixel is turned off. So it is the overall whiteness of the screen when it is off that is the problem. I have observed this difference of whiteness on other ereaders.
