This has also been one of my long-time favourites.

I am always grateful to the editors here who upload books, and thank you in particular to Crich70 for doing this one.

So it is worth saying that that error "dear/clear" on the first page seems to be a one-off.

I looked for other possible anomalies in this version, but some of the ones that stood out for me ("dumfounded", "new-fandangled", "misletoe") all appear in an older printed version.

"New-fandangled" is I suspect meant to be Mr Pooter's ignorance, or his affectionate speech: the word does not appear in the big OED. On the other hand it doesn't appear in the Gutenberg version either. But regretfully the Gutenberg version doesn't have the essential illustrations.
