When I first got Calibre, I looked at the Cover Browser and thought "That is a very nice piece of coding. I am impressed".

I did not however see a use for it in my workflow, but I do find the Cover Grid useful, from time to time. I usually keep Cover Browser and Cover Grid switched off.

Am I missing a trick somewhere?
Nope! I tried it detached (on the second monitor). And while it is real nice Eye Candy, I am in your camp; Grid view (I mostly use it to spot Problem covers)
