Absurd. The Tool only adds new data (0's for integers, 0.0 for floating points, dates of 0000-12-31 at Noon, and a special null unicode symbol for text) but changes NO existing data.

Read the ToolTips in Customizing for Add Null Values.

For textual columns, simply delete the null symbol wherever it is found, like I said previously.
