This has nothing to do with dithering, but only with the refresh treatment - and this can be set very diverse with Onyx-Boox devices.
There are some variants of dithering - but it is
always required when a larger color gamut is displayed in lower (gray levels).
Without dithering, EInk only offers black and white, but no grayscale.
