Well, I must be getting better ...
because I'm starting to notice errors in the medical shows again ...
Expectant mother starts bleeding ...
Doctor: Get me two units of O negative STAT!!
OK .... here's why it's wrong wrong WRONG!!!
Any expectant mother is going to have a blood typing done pretty much the second she gets into the hospital.
Without specifying packed cells, the doctor has about a fifty percent chance of having whole blood transfused.
If the mother is any type other than O, the O whole blood could do some pretty nasty things to her body and could damage the fetus as well.
And ... that's how I know I must be getting better ...
