It's nearing Halloween. There's tons of quality horror on sale.
To start with:
The Sentinel by Jeffrey Konvitz is $1.99 at Amazon US.
The Sentinel is an under-rated book that I read years back and really enjoyed. I don't want to sell it as a classic, but it is a well done religious shocker from the '70's (when there was an abundance of religious scare stories).
I usually copy a synopsis from Amazon, but I'll write up this one myself.

There's a clever sequel called The Guardian. I read it, but don't remember liking it as much.
