I haven't upgraded my Sigil in a long time, but in v 9.9, there is a Misc folder, that occasionally will snag a file if the extension is a bit off, or there is a file-name problem.
Does this later version of Sigil still display the Miscellaneous folder? if so, you might check that to see if the "already existing" file is in there.
