After the long diagonal swipe, wait a few seconds for a popup giving you some info and the option to use the screenshot as a screensaver. It may take you a number of tries to get the speed and start and end points (diagonal corners) right. It should be: touch down, at a corner and without lifting your finger swipe all the way to the opposite corner, then lift your finger.
