Jumping back in here. I think you might be right about the drivers. I checked both drivers for the tablet and the usb tablet connection. both say they are working properly, but...exploring in events I get this message:
Device USB\VID_04E8&PID_6860&MS_COMP_MTP&SAMSUNG_Android\ 6&2eacc67c&0&0000 requires further installation.
So, I know you are not my personal consultant, but if you could give me any suggestions for a direction from here, I would be grateful. Thanks.
