I've used Windows 10 Laptops and gone back to Windows Vista laptops. I've downloaded the latest drivers (which are not new - there seems to be no updates). Should a Kindle Paperwhite be able to connect to a computer. If I bought a new one would it or has all this been disabled on the Kindle by Amazon. I bought new data cables to make sure I was using a data cable (as opposed to power only cable). Every other type of device connects no problems to the computers. Only the Kindle is not recognized.
All information on the internet is completely out of date. I just can't tell are all my devices malfunctioning or whether its just not possible anymore.
It should work. I've seen the same problem reported and have the same issue for years with my home computer. The cords are fine, other things connect fine, but my Kindles (multiple) randomly will not be read by the computer. They will charge and be connected, but that's it. I have to keep switching cables. It doesn't always make sense, but sometimes if I can find the cable that came with the kindle, it seems to connect. It's a weird quirk that doesn't affect a lot of users but always has me (with 2 fires, 2 paperwhites, and 1 oasis) on this home computer.
