Sometimes when you use the "Honey" app at checkout, it will tell you that none of the codes work. But when you manually enter the codes (after Honey failed), sometimes you get the discount. I just did that (on the Canadian Kobo store) and got 40% off when I manually typed in the RAKUTEN40 code.

And by the way, I also used MYPERK30 which still works for me.

[edited to add] I don't always use the biggest codes at my disposal when I'm buying from some of my favourite authors. Sometimes I prefer to pay full price to support my favourite writers. I don't know if that's naive of me, but it makes me feel better.
