The thing is, for many, too thick means not easy to hold be it a reader, phone, tablet, laptop, ...
Let them make things thinner until they are too thin. For many things, we aren't there yet.

in the 50's and 60's, they were mainly ~1/2inch.
Finding one under 1in in this century is rare (it is probably an advertisement

). Heck, 1-1/2" is more common than not. Those weigh more than my oldest device did (with Cover)
