Add to that that my left ear is irritated because of my new earplugs. Luckily my throat is doing much better (which is also mainly on the left side), the antacids are helping, though the irritation isn't completely gone.

Oh, Rumple...that's terrible. I hope your dentist can find the problem. (I, too, grind my teeth or clamp at night. When I'm having a particularly stressful time, I can wake up with an aching jaw!).
Could the ear irritation be an infection, from a tooth? Both your jaw and tooth are problematic on the left side. I've had sinus infections that made my teeth hurt, as if they were abscessed. That's fun (
not). Any chance that's it? All tied in together?
