What are we talking about, phones, tablets, computers, laptops, cell phones, ... From the OP, it sounded like the discussion was about ereaders, and eink in particular was mentioned. I have no problem with thin eink readers. Either they are ergonomically designed to be held from the side, or they have a bezel that is big enough.

If we are talking about phones, phones aren't too thin. I had an iphone SE and it wasn't too thin. And my current phone isn't too thin. And battery life is just fine in both and I wouldn't mind a little less batter [sic](so I guess you were wrong, I can say it).

IMPE and IMO.
