They are rare in the last 12 years or so. Pretty much only used on things where sunlight readability is more important than viewing angle or colour quality. So indeed a watch is a good application for this quite old technology. OLED is a poor choice for watches due to poor life compared to LCD or eink and excessive power consumption to give contrast in bright sunshine.
However an eink with no colour is maybe best and certainly not too slow for a watch.
