By "M3 N905 Touch", do you mean the N905C Touch? That is the model number that I would expect to be on the end of the device. Kobo called this "Low Cost N905C Model". That's mainly to check and make sure we know what device you actually have.

I have the latest firmware on my N905 Touch. That is the original model. There are no issues with it like you describe. The touch works correctly, and, apart from bad ghosting, the screen updates with no issues. I haven't heard of any problems with the other versions of the Touch.

As you state you do not have WiFi on, I assume you are sideloading the firmware. Are you using the correct update package, and are you putting all files from it onto the device? If you are just using the KoboRoot.tgz file, you will be missing updated the kernel. A mismatch between the kernel and the executables, could cause these sort of problems.
