Thanks Mr Goyal. I have tried several different fonts, all show that problem. Mangal is specified in the CSS, which is probably why that's the only font that displays the original bought copy on my Kobo device. But selecting Mangal as the serif font in the viewer preferences, and setting serif as the default font type doesn't help. The text still shows as non-serif, Noto Devanagari.
