I just tested it using ADE and Kindle drm ebooks the ADE books work while the Kindle did not.

My set up is Linux Mint 20 PC running calibre with imported keys and a Windows 10 VM with ADE2.01 and Kindle for PC 1.23. ADE My Digital Editions folder has been sim-linked to a shared folder on the linux side, while Kindle has been set to download to a shared My Kindle Content folder. To download ebooks I just open the VM open Kindle or ADE download my ebooks then shut download the VM and then use drag and drop to calibre--works and no fooling around with wine.

Just tried with a Nook book did not work.
