What you put into the "Collection columns" field is a comma separated list of the lookup names of the columns. This is shown in the list of columns on the "Add your own columns" page of the preferences. Or in the tooltip if you put the cursor over the heading of any column in the library list. For custom columns, it always starts with a "#". If you just want to use the tags, the just put "tags" in the field (without the quotes). The "#myshelves, series" is just an example of what can be done.

I use "#kobobookshelves,#status,#book_source". In reverse order, those are columns for where the book came from (Kobo, Amazon, etc), the reading status (Finished, Reading, To Read and several other things) and a column for other collections that I might want to use.
