Bolt, Ben (Ottwell Binns): Mystery of Belvoir Mansions (1926); v1, 29 Sep 2020

Ben Bolt was a pseudonym of Ottwell Binns (1872-1935), a prolific author of adventure and thriller novels.

This tale takes the reader from the Home Counties to Solway Firth, in company with a sinister multi-millionaire, a brave but unprincipled French pilot, sundry crooks, two upstanding Englishmen, and various cops.

All because a corpse is discovered in an apartment in Belvoir mansions, and present when the corpse is discovered is lovely but agitated young lady with a lot to hide, and a connection to a notorious but elusive international master criminal named Steinmetz.

The text was retrieved from Australian on-line newspapers via the Australian National Library TROVE portal. Most of it comes from "Table Talk", an upmarket weekly, in 1926. It was also serialised in various other papers in 1934-1936.

The cover is a re-creation of the 1929 Ward Lock edition. The text at the top was distorted, so I replaced it with new text using a font very similar to, but not identical with, the original.
