It used to be that they were thought to be in the pocket of Kindle.
Recent praise for Kobo is due to Kobo stepping up their game with software improvements, hardware like the Forma and Libra and Kobo Plus.
I'd almost think it is a sign that they are unbiased professionals. But then I remember what site we are talking about...
